The Chinese rice farm that was recently named World Landscape of the Year is designed to teach people about traditional agriculture, according to Stanley Lung of landscape architecture firm Turenscape. Located in China's Hunan Province, the farm forms part of the Chengtoushan Archaeological Park. It features a network of pathways that allow visitors to walk freely through paddy fields, observing farmers at work. The project was named World Landscape of the Year 2017 at this year's World Architecture Festival, which took place in Berlin last month. In this movie filmed by Dezeen, Stanley Lung of Turenscape explains how the park was designed as an "outdoor rice museum", paying tribute to the 6,500-year history of this farming area. It invites visitors to participate in agricultural acti...

The Institute for Energy Systems Seminar Series presents Dr YUE Yao, Lecturer from the School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering, Wuhan University, China. This IES Seminar took place on the22nd of January 2016 in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. Presentation Abstract: Soil erosion by water impacts soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks and alters CO2 fluxes exchanged with the atmosphere at landscape and regional scale. The role of erosion as a net sink or source of atmospheric CO2 remains highly debated, and little information is available at scales larger than points for a few small catchments. This study is a first attempt to quantify the lateral transport of soil carbon and consequent land-atmosphere CO2 fluxes at the scale of China where severe erosion ha...
WUHAN, CHINA — Researchers from China's Wuhan University have found a new way to treat sensitive teeth using a green tea extract. Teeth may become sensitive when tooth enamel gets worn off, which exposes the dentin tissue underneath. Food or bacteria that comes into contact with nerve endings through the tubules in dentin tissue is what causes pain. A group of researchers led by Cui Huang of Wuhan University combined a green tea polyphenol called epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG, with a mineral called nanohydroxyapatite to combat teeth sensitivity. EGCG is a micronutrient that is known for its ability to fight Streptococcus mutans bacteria, which form biofilms that cause cavities. The mixture successfully plugged the exposed dentin tubules and prevented the formation of biofilms, New...

Liu Younian, a master craftsman and tuner of bianzhong, or chime bells, has spent the last three decades studying and duplicating the 2,400-year-old Chinese musical instrument since its discovery from an ancient tomb in 1978. Liu, 60, has worked at Wuhan Mechanical Technology Institute Co., Ltd. in central China's Hubei Province for around 30 years. He and his team has successfully duplicated China's national treasure bianzhong unearthed from the tomb of Zenghouyi (Marquis Yi of Zeng State) in Suizhou City of Hubei. The tomb dates back to the Warring States Period 2,400 years ago. In the 1980s, China decided to duplicate the chime bell set. Liu joined the endeavor in 1986. As some ancient bianzhong manufacturing techniques had died out, he did extensive research and experiments to re...

My trip to Wuhan. One thing that was really amazing in this trip was the Ship performance (知音号) It was indeed an eye opener. Why was it amazing? Cause the moment you step on board, you become a part of the performance. The ship is filled with actors all around each corner and spaces. You can walk freely, interact with them and have fun! If you want to know where you should go or have questions, comment down below! I'm trying to improve!

This was supposed to be a much longer trip, but got derailed on the account of huge technical difficulties with the camera, and the related loss of motivation. In any case, here it is. Enjoy. Part One is all about getting there, setting in, checking out the Yangtze River (Asia's longest), and getting some food into us after that hugely long train trip. ☑SUBSCRIBE ☑LIKE ☑SHARE ☐GET ON PLANE FOLLOW THE MONKEE! ✩ Blog/Website - http://www.monkeetime.com ✩ FaceBook - https://www.facebook.com/monkeetime ✩ Twitter - https://twitter.com/monkeetimevideo

This is the second part of our trip to Wuhan. The camera was failing miserably by then, and you'll notice a lot of glitchiness, but I decided to keep and edit the video, just for shits and giggles. Aside of the Wal-Mart, we checked out the Yellow Crane Pagoda, sampled various yumminess around the city, and in other ways entertained ourselves. ☑SUBSCRIBE ☑LIKE ☑SHARE ☐GET ON PLANE FOLLOW THE MONKEE! ✩ Blog/Website - http://www.monkeetime.com ✩ FaceBook - https://www.facebook.com/monkeetime ✩ Twitter - https://twitter.com/monkeetimevideo
On the Princess Elaine of China Regal Cruises we head upriver the Yangtze River towards Gezhouba Dam. Particularly impressive is how much of the work is done by hand, such as loading and unloading the ships. Heavy machinery is only seldom seen. It quickly becomes clear what great amounts of sand and clay are transported from the Yangtze into valley areas. And this occurs in a region that is almost perfectly flat. There is only a 192 m difference in altitude along the 2400 km stretch between Shanghai and Chongqing. However, travel by ship is often a better alternative to road travel, even for trucks. The trip from Wuhan to the Three Gorges Dam costs around 00 Euros, including meals and sleeping accommodations. ..... please read more: https://blog.myvideomedia.com Auf der Princess Elain...

These videos are filmed while riding an ebike on the streets of Wuhan, a fast growing Chinese city with a population of almost 10 million. Due to the limited range of the bike, all videos are shot in Wuchang near the Guanggu Square. Many of Wuhan's University are located in this area, also some beautiful lakes can be found here. Compered to the quite developed and clean City center in Hankou, Wuchang has a lot of constructions and some of the streets are a real challenge to drive. Till now, every video was shot with a Xiaomi Yi Cam 4k action camera, the newer videos without waterproof case to increase the picture quality. Also I uesed different external audio devices to get rid of the wind noise.
